CERTIFICATE OF YOUNG PRODUCER
The Certificate of Young Producer was created to inspire the new generation to learn the fundamentals of the music-making process. Whether students are total beginners or already familiar with a DAW, whether they are young Taylor Swift fans or older high school band students, this program is designed for everyone. It teaches students how to play various instruments and provides hands-on instruction in arranging, orchestrating, sequencing with a DAW, mixing, and producing a polished piece of music, ready to deliver. With a maximum class size of 8 students, the instructor can give ample attention to each participant.
The program is divided into two distinct paths: Top Hits and Orchestral. Each path offers its unique aspects and an immense wealth of knowledge.
Upon completing both paths, students are awarded the Certificate of Young Producer.
Top Hits
The Top Hits program is perfect for young students who want to learn how the music of today’s top artists is made and have hands-on practice. Using a MIDI controller and an iPad with GarageBand installed as the main individual workstation, a new instrument will be introduced to the class every quarter. Students will learn, practice, and use it to record their musical projects. Each 12-week quarter is tailored to provide a well-rounded education through a constructive sequence, which includes learning:
The basics of a new instrument with proper technique
How to read and develop aural skills
Theoretical concepts in rhythm and harmony
Musical arrangement and understanding the role of each instrument
How to sequence MIDI using a digital audio workstation (DAW)
How to record acoustic instruments and voice with microphones
How to mix the student’s own musical arrangements
How to have a finished project and file ready for delivery
… and as in everything we do at Little Composers Academy, we will have tons of fun, learning from the music of artists like Taylor Swift, Imagine Dragons, Gracie Abrams, The Weeknd, and many more!
Orchestral
What about the big sound of the movie scores? How to achieve that Hollywood sound? The Orchestral program is designed for young students who want to understand and replicate their favorite themes. Explore the instruments of the different families of the orchestra and learn how to combine them. Using a MIDI controller and an iPad with GarageBand installed, the keyboard will be the main instrument for learning, practicing, and sequencing the student’s musical projects. Each 12-week quarter is tailored to provide a well-rounded education through a constructive sequence, which includes learning:
The basics of playing the piano/keyboard with proper technique
How to read music and develop aural skills
Theoretical concepts in rhythm and harmony
Musical orchestration and understanding how to combine the instruments
How to sequence MIDI using a digital audio workstation (DAW)
How to mix the student’s own musical arrangements
How to have a finished project and file ready for delivery
… and as in classic Little Composers Academy fashion, we will have a lot of fun, following the traditional path and learning from masters of their craft like John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, Alan Silvestri, and many more!
